SAGEEP 2022 Abstracts

Call for Abstracts

You are invited to submit an abstract for presentation at the 34th SAGEEP. The SAGEEP 2022 meeting will feature a rich technical program, vibrant social events, professional networking opportunities, and a commercial exhibition showcasing the latest in geophysical products and services. The event brings together researchers, industry professional, and students to share and discuss recent advancement, challenges, and applications of geophysics for engineering and environmental problems.

This year, the technical program will also incorporate special sessions planned in synergy with other organizations. The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) will collaborate on sessions exploring the challenges of dams and levees and the use of geophysics for construction planning and life-cycle monitoring. A focus on geophysical characterization for municipal groundwater supply will be pursued with the Colorado Groundwater Association (CGWA) and local affiliates. These and other special focus topics will add to broad scope of presentations spanning geohazards, hydrogeology, infrastructure, sensor development, and much more.

Abstract Submission Guidelines

All authors will submit a short abstract summarizing their work. The abstract should be no more than one page in length (between 300 and 700 words), meet the formatting requirements outlined in the MS Word Stylesheet (see template below) and only contain text (no figures or tables). In addition to submitting a short abstract to be included in the conference program and proceedings, you also have the option to submit an extended abstract. Authors may (optionally) submit extended abstracts up to four pages in length, including figures and tables. If you are interested in submitting an extended abstract, please contact the meeting chairs for submission and formatting instructions.

Terms of Submission

  • Abstracts will be published in the conference proceedings.
  • Abstracts will be peer-reviewed with acceptance decisions based on the standard of the content. Corresponding authors submitting abstracts will be notified of acceptance, suggested revisions, or rejection.
  • All submissions are subject to review. Inappropriate statements not germane to the scientific purpose of the conference, those lacking scientific merit, or those with excessive commercial content are subject to rejection at any stage of the review process.
  • The author is responsible for the accuracy of the information and originality of the work provided. The author also agrees that he/she has rights to, and approval to, present the information in his/her abstract and presentation(s).
  • When submitting your abstract, you will be asked to select 1 to 5 keywords that describe your work. The keywords will be used to identify the appropriate session that best fits your abstract.
  • You will also be asked to indicate your preference for an oral or poster presentation.
  • Assignments between oral and poster presentations of existing abstracts for the conference may change.
  • Authors selected for the “Best of SAGEEP” award will be asked to present at the EAGE Near Surface Conference. Awards will also be made for best student presentations.
  • A $50.00 abstract submission fee will be assessed online prior to submitting your abstract or optional expanded abstract. This will be a one-time $50 fee per corresponding author, regardless of the number of abstracts submitted by the same author. The fee will be applied toward SAGEEP 2022 meeting registration if the abstract is accepted and presented. If the abstract is not accepted, the fee will be returned if deadline dates are observed. If the abstract (and optionally, the extended abstract) is accepted, but you do not register for or attend the symposium, the fee is non-refundable and your abstract and/or expanded abstract will not be included in the proceedings.

Oral Presentation Requirements

Oral presentations should be PowerPoint files (or a PDF of slides), delivered in 15 minutes with 5 minutes for questions for a total of no more than 20 minutes. You will be asked to load your PowerPoint files on a USB drive, which you will transfer to the computer in your session room prior to the beginning of the session.

Poster Presentation Requirements

The maximum poster dimension that can be accommodated is 4 feet high (48 inches, 120 cm) by 8 feet wide (96 inches, 242 cm), but smaller posters are acceptable as long as they are legible from a distance. All contextual formatting of the scientific content within the poster is flexible, with the exception that we would like you to put your Abstract Number in the upper left portion of your poster. Each board will have a 6-foot table set under it to accommodate space for the “Availability” sheets and any other documentation you would like to make available to conference attendees.
