The Board of EEGS would like to encourage student members to consider forming a student chapter. Student membership in EEGS is now free and students of any college or university having accredited programs in the geological sciences or geological engineering may petition the EEGS Board of Directors to form an EEGS Student Chapter.
BENEFITS OF FORMING A CHAPTER:
- 2 free SAGEEP registrations
- 1 free SAGEEP workshop/short course registration
- 1 free copy of SAGEEP proceedings
REQUIREMENTS FOR FORMING A CHAPTER:
A minimum of two students and a faculty advisor are required to form a Chapter. All chapter members must be EEGS members. Each Chapter will have a President and Vice President, whose responsibilities include promoting student participation in EEGS and SAGEEP through Chapter activities.
REQUIREMENTS FOR MAINTAINING A CHAPTER:
A minimum of two meetings (one per semester) must be held by the Chapter each calendar year.
- An annual report must be submitted to the EEGS Student Committee by the end of January of each year for inclusion in the EEGS Board meeting held concurrently with SAGEEP.

STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP TO ATTEND SAGEEP 2014 (March 16-20, 2014) OFFERED BY GEOMETRICS
Geometrics announces the availability of limited number of $500 student scholarships to offset the cost of attending SAGEEP 2014. This valuable opportunity, offered annually by Geometrics, provides an ideal opportunity to hear about current research, new applications and to meet people doing engineering geophysics.
Interested students must be in good standing at their educational institution, provide a letter of application and a letter of recommendation from a faculty member. Your application letter should include:
- areas of interest in geophysics
- graduation date
- dissertation/thesis/senior project topic
- your thoughts on career and academic plans after graduation
