SPECIAL FastTIMES - SAGEEP 2018 Pre-Conference Edition Available NOW!

The FastTIMES 23.1 (2018) is a pre-Conference edition focusing on the SAGEEP 2018 symposium in one interactive PDF document.  The deadline to register at Early Bird rates AND to make your hotel reservations is March 2.  This issue will help you decide and to come to SAGEEP 2018 and plan your SAGEEP 2018 experience.  (It could also help with justifications to employers!)  The Pre-Conference edition will be followed by an updated full Conference Edition in March at Conference time, which can serve as a permanent record of the SAGEEP 2018 proceedings and experience..

EEGS Foundation Opens Online Auction!

The EEGS Foundation On-Line Auction is live and ready for your bid. The Foundation is auctioning tickets to two (2) very unique yet thoroughly "Nashville" events: A Night at the Grand Ole Opry; and a Professional Hockey Night in Nashville. The winning bidders will be announced at 7:00 PM on Sunday, March 25th during the SAGEEP 2018 Ice Breaker Reception at the EEGS Foundation Silent Auction Table.

EEGS Board of Directors Election Underway

Bethany L. Burton, Nominations Committee Chair, announces the election of 2018/19 Board of Directors Executive Committee officers and Members at Large to fill open positions.  Election documents have been sent via email to eligible EEGS members.  Members will need to log in to access the Members Only section of the web site (Membership/Members Only/Election Information) where candidates' biographical information and EEGS platforms are presented along with the online voting link.  Printed ballots can be submitted via fax or mail.  The deadline to vote is midnight Monday, March 12, 2018.

SAGEEP 2018 Registration Open!

Register for SAGEEP 2018 online or by completing and sending in your printed registration form - soon!  Early bird rates are available until March 2.  Make your hotel reservations at the host hotel, Nashville Airport Marriott by March 2 - and check out the great door prizes available to those who stay at the host hotel for at least 3 nights!  General Chair William Doll urges everyone to check out the Technical Program and his summary of the many exciting and in some cases, new, features of the SAGEEP 2018 Program!

Funding Available for Environmental and Installation Energy Technology Demonstrations 

The Department of Defense (DoD), through the Environmental Security Technology Certification Program (ESTCP),ESTCP is seeking proposals for demonstrations of innovative environmental and installation energy technologies as candidates for funding beginning in FY 2019. The solicitation requests pre-proposals via Calls for Proposals to Federal organizations and via a Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) for Private Sector organizations. Pre-proposals are due March 8, 2018 by 2 p.m. ET.  Detailed instructions are on the ESTCP website under Funding Opportunities.

Latest issue of the FastTIMES Published - Reminder: Ready for Downloading & Viewing

Editor Geoff Pettifer announced the publication and online availability of FastTIMES, Vol. 22.4.    Reminder: For optimal viewing, FastTIMES' new editor suggests viewing the newly formatted publication after downloading to get full color and interactive PDF capability, rather than the limited version in the initial previewing screen.  Many new features and viewing improvements have been made and he's pleased to offer readers a feature-rich, fully functional,  quarterly  magazine for the near-surface geophysical sciences.

EEGS 2018 Membership Renewal Underway!

EEGS Membership renewal notices have been issued via members' email addresses.  If you do not have an email address on file (or you did not receive your renewal email notice), you can pay your 2018 EEGS membership dues by using the Quick Link list (right-hand side of the EEGS home page) and selecting "My Profile."  Click the link and hover over the My Profile gray tab.  From the dropdown selections, choose "View Transactions" and you will see the invoice for 2018 EEGS Individual Membership Renewal, which you can select and pay with your credit card.  If you prefer, you can send a check to the EEGS business offices.

Important Upcoming Near Surface Geophysics Possibility - Interested?  Read On! 

The Geotechnical group at the FHWA Resource Center has proposed  an idea focused on geophysical exploration for consideration in the 5th round of Every Day Counts. This initiative could provide a stepping stone for geophysical awareness and utilization in geotechnical investigations of our highways, but it needs support.  Access the EDC 5 link for instructions on how to submit suggestions/comments.  The deadline for suggestions/comments is January 18th.  Please feel free to contact Khamis Haramy, Dan Alzamora  or Ben Rivers with any questions.
